Bodycams

You may come across security guards wearing body cameras as part of their uniform. A body camera is a small, portable device that records video. A security guard will only capture footage if they sense that an unsafe situation is unfolding. These recordings allow us to conduct thorough investigations of incidents afterward. All footage is securely stored for a maximum of 28 days, with access restricted to authorized personnel only. As a security organization, we utilize body cameras to protect our employees, and guards have the authority to record without needing prior approval to activate the camera.

**How are the recordings secured?**

We manage bodycam recordings with the utmost diligence. All footage is stored in a manner that prevents access by unauthorized individuals. After each duty shift, the bodycam recordings are deleted and automatically relocated to a secure location. Access to this location is limited, and recordings may only be viewed if requested by law enforcement, if a citizen files a request for access, or if a security officer reviews the footage for self-evaluation. Any viewing, deletion, or alteration of recordings is automatically logged by the system, ensuring transparency regarding when, by whom, and why recordings were accessed.

**How long do we keep the images?**

Recordings are automatically deleted after 28 days unless a legal request or requirement is made during that timeframe. For instance, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) can issue a directive necessitating the retention of the footage for a criminal investigation. If a recording captures a criminal act, law enforcement is authorized to utilize it in their investigation. These bodycam recordings are retained as long as required for any ongoing inquiry. Once the investigation concludes, the recordings will be deleted. Security guards do not have the ability to erase recordings from their body cameras.

**How can I view images of myself?**

If you have been recorded by a body camera, you have the right to access this footage. You can only view the segments where you appear; other individuals will be rendered unrecognizable. To submit a request for access to your data, please fill out our contact form (your rights and request for access) or email avg@gobsupport.nl.
